Safcol donates for Women's Month

The South African Forestry Company (SAFCOL) recently conducted its social intervention programme named “Dignity Drive” in Mpumalanga, Limpopo and Kwa-Zulu Natal as part of Women’s Month.

In Limpopo, the drive visited Jack Lavhengwa Secondary School at Khalavha village where the girls received sanitary towels and cosmetics and the boys were provided with toothbrushes, toothpaste, bath soap, roll-on and body lotion.

Jack Lavhengwa Secondary School was identified for an intervention by Mr Robert Makgwale, a socio-economic development practitioner, who stated that the situation in the school was acute and demanding as it even compromised the culture of teaching and learning.

The learners were motivated and encouraged to take their studies seriously and to avoid any behaviour that would hinder their progress.

The learners were discouraged to engage in substance abuse, criminal activities, unethical conduct and even to engage in unprotected sex, because HIV/Aids and STDs are a reality in the country. The messages were even supported by the representatives of the learners who further encouraged the learners to focus on their studies and not to allow ‘blessers’ to destroy their future.
