Maungani road officially open

The mayor of the Thulamela Municipality, Cllr Avhashoni Tshifhango, officially opened the road to Maungani last Friday.

He said that the opening of new roads was part of the definitive progress the municipality was making in righting the wrongs of the past. “For the Maungani and Ngovhela residents, this road means health services, schools, shops and other facilities are within reach. It means mobility and choices for people who have been forced to spend many hours walking or paying high transport costs because their homes are far from any roads,” he added.

Dolly Construction was the contractor and BRBF the subcontractor. The length of the road is 3,022 km and the width 2meters. Six speed humps were constructed on the Maungani road; the length of the sidewalk is 3.8km and the length of the stormwater drains is 3km.

The chairperson of Maungani Sanco, Mr Elvis Nembilwi, vowed to protect and take care of the road and said that the new road would make things easier for residents of Maungani and Ngovhela.

Representatives from the Tshivhase traditional council assist the Thulamela Mayor, Cllr Avhashoni Tshifhango, in cutting the ribbon.
