Ndivhuwo's dream of being radio presenter comes true

For 21-year-old Ndivhuwo Sentwele, being in the media industry has always been a dream. She is now living that dream as the Morning Connection presenter on Makhado FM, which airs weekdays from 03:00 to 06:00.

Ndivhuwo did not waste any time in pursuing her dreams. After finishing matric at George Mbulaheni High, she enrolled for a media studies degree at the University of Venda.

In September last year, she joined the team at Makhado FM. She did not wait for an invitation and decided to take the chance by submitting her CV. She was later called in for an audition and passed it with flying colours. “When you are determined to succeed, you don’t wait for an opportunity to present itself. You must create opportunities yourself to pave your future. You are the master of your own destiny,” she said.

She has always had a fascination with radio. “I started listening to Phalaphala FM, and every time I listened, I used to imitate the presenters," she said. Radio presenter Tico Liphadzi is her inspiration. To succeed in this industry, she said, one must be committed and dedicated. "It's a cut-throat industry. You should not pass up any opportunity you are afforded because it just might be your jackpot. Be humble and willing to learn every day,” she said.

According to Sentwele, if you want to be a good presenter, you must be professional and prepared before going on air. Her wish is to be known as one of the best presenters this province has ever produced.

“We, as young people, should not procrastinate about our future plans. The best time to lay a solid foundation for our future is now. If an opportunity arises, we must grasp it with both hands,” she said.
