The Prince of Sereni, Khakhathi Mawela, has started an online radio station, Mutoli FM.
Mawela, the son of Vhamusanda Vho-Mpfariseni Mawela of Sereni village under Chief Cecil Masakona, started the radio station three months ago as another way of providing a voice to the voiceless community of Sereni. The station, with the slogan Zwiliwa zwa ndevheni, has already attracted more than 1 200 followers on its Facebook page.
Mawela, a well-known music producer, said that he was happy that the station was growing fast and the youth from his village and surrounding areas were benefitting from it. “As a young person who is coming from a royal family, I was concerned that there were many challenges facing our community, especially [the] youth. With this radio station, I know I will be helping to address most challenges facing the youth while my father will be using his knowledge and skills to address challenges facing elderly people,” said Mawela, better known as ‘Deejay Levhulanganda, Rambo la Donngi.’
The station currently has four deejays who are working for the station, namely Deejay Zwivhuya Mafhimo, Deejay Tamia Netshifhire, Deejay Vusani Rapao and Deejay Vele Rambau. The station is available on www.mutolifm.online and other online platforms. Those who want to catch it can do so any time as it is available 24/7 every day, mainly playing music of local artists.
The station, in conjunction with community members of Sereni and surrounding villages, is planning to stage a soccer tournament on December 16 to raise funds to buy sanitary towels for needy and underprivileged girls. Anyone who wants to reach the station can call Mawela at 071 369 6334 or WhatsApp him at 067 950 8072. They are also available on firstname.lastname@example.org.
