These are some of the painful lyrics in the song of Adziambei Christopher Netshianane, famously known as Adziambei N in the gospel music fraternity. The song, titled O tavha mukosi, discourages the practice of ritual murder as it is against humanity and deprives people of their right to life.
O tavha mukosi is one of the songs that are making waves on the sixth album of Adziambei N, a traditional gospel music star from the dusty rural village of Tshishiru in the Nzhelele area. His music, which is dominated by vocals and traditional drums, continues to inspire young and old, especially those who were raised in the traditional churches.
A staunch member of the New Revelation Apostolic Church, his music journey started in church at a very young age. Through his hard work, Adziambei N is currently one of the most sought-after traditional gospel music acts locally.
He says his music is based on practical things that happen in everyday life. “The most important thing is to communicate directly with your audience through music. Your fans should be able to relate to your music when you sing about something that affects them. This is working for me because people love things that touch and bring changes to their lives. I am also inspired by the hardships of life that I personally went through, and it has taught me to compose music that encourages people not to give up. I am happy that my music is being received well by my fans and is receiving reasonable airplay on various radio stations.”
