When he started his music career in high school, little did Razie Kay know that he would turn out to be one of the most promising newcomers in the music industry.

He was born Rudzani Khavhela from Maungani village and started singing when he was in primary school, where he excelled in music competitions. “I even got myself recorded, but just for the fun part of listening to my voice on tape and it all made some sense, even at that stage,” he said. “Some of the songs became quite popular on the school grounds, and I was put up there on the stage as the singer of the moment.”

Razie Kay is currently working on a full-length album, called Murunwa. The album features major artists such as Dr Malinga, Ck the Dj (Double Trouble), Khakhathi and P Postman.

Murunwa focuses on the challenges and hardships that people are facing during the Covid-19 pandemic,” he explained. “It pains me that we have lost so many people since the start of the pandemic in 2020. It’s about time that I give people music to soothe them.”

Razie Kay was influenced by the likes of Lucky Dube, Colbert Mukwevho, Meriam Makeba, Bob Marley, Yondo Sisters, Jah Prayzer and Oliver Mtukudzi. This promising young artist has found comfort, healing, and his life's purpose in music. Some of his other singles include Mbilu yanga, Romantic and Revenge. He said that he would be announcing his upcoming project shortly.

“Music is a medicine to those who listen to it and get to enjoy it,” he said. “It's therapy. It's also a weapon that we use to fight prejudices of the social systems that suppress vulnerable people.”

He is signed to Rita Dee Entertainment and has worked with giants in the VenRap genre such as MizoPhyll, Maxy Khoisan (Botswana), Vhuyie Da DJ, Makhadzi and Ramzeey.

Razie Kay’s music is available on most social media platforms.
