Kanakana Nkhumeleni, known as 2kan RSA, has received a nomination for the 2020 GAMA Music Awards for best hip-hop album, and he hopes to scoop the coveted award.
A resident at Tswinga village, and currently based in Mamelodi East in Pretoria, 2kan RSA is a highly motivated, upcoming artist who believes in his music career and the quality of his music.
A social worker by profession, he tells Limpopo Mirror that his work-related schedule was so full sometimes that he was left with less time for other social activities, but he would always spare some time for being creative with music.
“I have been a social worker for 12 years now, and that evidence of my field is felt in my music in that I create the kind of music that builds up society,” he said. “Now that I have come this far with music, it is not easy for people to believe that I started out by recording myself and my brothers, singing on a cellphone. We got people listening to our demos for free, and they were awed by our creativity.”
He stated that music ran in his blood and that he regarded it as his first career. “Music is a form of social construction in that it can bring people together and fight other social ills, such as crime,” he said.
He was inspired by his friend, Croco Mitval Mafanya, who is very talented and has a unique voice. He is also inspired by Prifix, Fizzy, Mizo Phyl, Meshack Chauke AKA BA and his brother, BossG Gumani Nkhumeleni, because they are also talented and have a unique style of rapping.
His hard-hitting songs include, among others, I got what I want, Life goes on, Thandolakho, Ri khou lila, Thizwilondi, and Vho swika. He is currently working on an EP, entitled Vhutshilo vhu khou ya.

Tshifhiwa Given Mukwevho was born in 1984 in Madombidzha village, not far from Louis Trichardt in the Limpopo Province. After submitting articles for roughly a year for Limpopo Mirror's youth supplement, Makoya, he started writing for the main newspaper.
