Tshima 2019 - All the nominees

The final list of the artists who will compete for the sixth annual Tshivenda Music Awards (Tshima) were announced on Saturday evening during a glittering event that was held at the News Café in the Thavhani Mall.

Ndivhudzannyi “Makhadzi” Ralivhona has been nominated in four categories: Best Tshivenda female artist of the year, Best Tshivenda artist of the year, Tshivenda song of the year and Best Tshivenda dance album of the year.

She entered the four categories with the song Tshikwama, the same song that is dominating the music charts on almost all local radio stations, public and private transport and private homes. She won all four categories during last year’s Tshimas with the song Tshanda Vhuya.  

Takie Ndou and Prifix are the other two artists who were nominated in the four categories, while new kid on the block Khubvi Kid has been nominated in two categories.

Best Tshivenda newcomer of the year: Chris Bang - Maduvha EP, Queen Popoo - My voice is my hero EP, Ronnie L - A call to love, Mac J - Official, Khubvi Kid - African queen.

Best Tshivenda reggae album of the year: Burning Doctor - Thongo Elekanya, Jahman Mudengu -Mavu a la vhathu, C-Man - Thonifho, Jah Lady Dorris - Vhutshilo, Just Ice - Dzingwane Matombo na Misalasala.

Best Tshivenda Afro-Soul Album of the Year: Tendy L - Tshililo tsha Mufumakadzi, Ramzee - Murumiwa, Khubvi Kid - African queen, Fizzy -Lovers and friends and Kairo- My life.

Best Tshivenda traditional album of the year: I kho u Bobodana Band 2019 - Remix Vol 2 Nne Ndi a Levha, Vhavenda Cultural Gorup - Sialala, Ephraim ‘Galaha’ Masindi - Kaidzani Vhana, Vhadau Nga Dzavho - Funanani Vol 1 and Vhalaudzi Mashudu Vhutsila - Gwamasenga Remix.

Best Tshivenda indigenous album of the year:  Vho-Musenwa - Ndoliladza, Nevombe - Nevelengende Vol 4, Fhatuwani Steel Boy - Tshelede, Sikheli Junior - La Matshelo and Mathivha Eric - Thiathu.

Best Tshivenda hip-hop album of the year: Rachakill - Tshikwatudzi, Prefix - The one and only, C Jay - The Messiah, Skatedogg - Nzumbululo and Dovey - Vhutali.

King of Venrap 2019: Darkface Muvenda - T/Ndou City, C Jay - The Messiah, Prefix - The one and only, Rachakill - Tshikwatudzi and Dovey - Vhutali.

Best Tshivenda Tshingondo album of the year: Whitey Dama - Vol 13 Mbiti, Condry and Moloto Stars - Mulenzhe wa Munwe, Chibika & The Secret Boys - Gole Litswu Vol 3, Mukhuwa and Devhula Band - Lufuno and Thifhelimbilu & Gazilamrumba Boys Vol 6 - Vhalwelasisiwana.

Best Tshivenda Indigenous/Traditional gospel album of the year; Naphy Manenzhe - Nga Lutendo, Charles & The Healers Boys - Dzula Wo Lindela, Ntshengedzeni N - Tadulu Yo Vula, Rev Itani Doit Ramalivhana - Ro da U Vhulunga Mimuya, EV Munzhedzi - A huna a Mufhiraho, Muvhango Luambo  - Ndi Nnyi Khonani and Vha Evangeli Vho Khavhela na Vhana Vha Zion- Faranani Vol 5.

Tshivenda gospel album of the year: Takie Ndou -Hope Arise, Itani Venda Boy - Sedza Kha Murena, Lufuno Phalanndwa - Midnight hour worship, Ronnie L - A call to love, Newie - Chapter 5 Vhamuerna wa Marena and King D Music - Seasons.

Best Tshievenda female artist of the year: Newie - Chapter 5 Vhamurena wa Marena, Ndivhaleni Musetha - Ndi Kho u ita Zwiswa, Tendy J - Tshililo Tsha Mufumakadzi, Makhadzi - Tshikwama and Kairo - My Life.

Best Tshivenda male artist of the year: Dovey -Vhutali, Prefix - The one and only, Christopher Mathogo - U tshila na vhathu, Fizzy - Lovers and friends and Takie Ndou - Hope arise.

Best Tshivenda dance album of the year: Black Culture - Taking music to the new beyond, Tshibulebule - Hatshikamuroho, DJ Shandu Skeem - I love music, T-Man Gavin - Ri kho u funana and Makhadzi - Tshilkwama.

Tshivenda song of the year: Sync DJS - Bodelo (featuring Crazy Bone & Hle-Hle), Sir Mckleker - Matamela (featuring Thili), Khubvi Kid - African queen, Takie Ndou - Hope arise and Makhadzi -Tshikwama.

Best Tshivenda artist of the year: Kairo - My life, Prifix - The one and only, Makhadzi - Tshikwama, Takie Ndou - Hope arise and Christopher Mathogo - U tshila na Vhathu.
