“A reading society is an intelligent society”

Read: 1145

Every other day a writer out there cries to have their book published but has no idea where to go since hardly any local publishers are active on a full-time basis.

One youth saw this void, did some industry research and then set up his publishing initiative right in the heart of Louis Trichardt.

Emmanuel Victor Raluswinga is the driving force behind the successful Dominate Publishing, which was founded in the early months of 2018 and managed to publish four books that same year.

“I was later joined by my two great friends, Shaun Muenda and Mashudu Nemadzivhani, in the stable,” he said. “The idea to start a publishing company was inspired by the fact that a lot of talented writers are not published, and one major reason is that it is difficult for them to access publishers.”

The other reason was that most writers think that publishing a book and eventually getting it into a bookstore or library is something only available to the select few.

He said he would not mention money as being one of the major challenges in the industry because the clients were the ones who paid for services, and not the other way around. “When I said our clients are the ones who pay us, it is because we are not a traditional publisher, we are a self-publishing company,” he said. “So, we provide authors with all the services they need to get their book published.”

Raluswinga has been associated with books for many years now, and he emphasises that books added value to society because they are the driving force of progress. “A reading society is an intelligent society,” he says. “Books help us understand the environment around us, and the people we associate ourselves with. One gets to live so many lives before they die if they read.”
