Prize winner DJ Bennedictor wants to achieve more

Read: 1500

At the age of 21, Lufuno Bennedictor Ndouvhada is already making a name for himself in the radio-broadcasting fraternity.

Commonly known as DJ Bennedictor to his adoring fans, Ndouvhada is a renowned presenter and news reader at Musina FM. He presents Tshidziki Tsha Mafhungo (Current Matters) weekdays between 18:00 and 19:00 and reads Tshivenda news weekdays from 06:00 to 08:00.

The holder of the Best Radio Personality Award in the 2018 Black Ambitious Awards, Ndouvhada said he saw a bright future in his radio-industry journey.  “I cannot claim that I’m perfect because in this industry, we learn new things on a daily basis. The fact that I have an important award in my collection proves that there is light at the end of the tunnel for me in this career. This industry needs someone who is courageous, willing to learn and dedicated. You will never make it if you claim to know everything.”

He said that his involvement with radio was accidental. “I saw an advertisement two years ago when Musina FM was looking for presenters. I was just taking a chance when I decided to apply, not knowing that I would be called for auditions. To my surprise, I performed very well and impressed the panel. I have never looked back since then.”

Ndouvhada, who completed his Grade 12 in 2016, said he still had a dream to study further in the field of media. “Despite my poor financial background, I strongly believe that I will fulfil my dream of becoming a media-studies graduate one day. I have realized that education is the foundation of prosperity and it is important for one to have something to lean on when the radio career comes to an end.”

He has a message for young people who want to venture into the radio industry: “Stay focussed and read everything you come across. This will help you to be up to date on what is going on around the world. When you are well informed, you can easily take your listeners through and update them on the latest trends in life. Over and above all, strive to get a qualification, so that it would be easier for you to open other doors in life.”
