A tale of two dreams

Read: 2193

Phathutshedzo Tshiuda is a B Com financial accounting student at the North West University and aspires to be a chartered accountant one day.

But that is not where his dream ends. The youngster wants to be an actor and still be a CA.

Born and bred in Tshakhuma Mutsindoni, the enthusiastic 19-year-old has been a background actor on soapie operas such as The Queen on Mzansi Magic, SABC’s Skeem Saam and Generations: The legacy.

“I fell in love with acting when I was still in primary school, but never had the opportunity to do more acting activities in high school for other reasons,” recalled Tshiuda.

While in high school, he purposefully focused on obtaining good grades that could help him acquire university admission in order to achieve his dream of becoming a chartered accountant. Although this was the case, he had always been passionate about acting, presenting and being an inspiration to his peers.

He told Limpopo Mirror that he simultaneously focused on more than two tasks in order to reach his goals and dreams and it might look extremely tiring but it was exciting and rewarding.

“It is about prioritizing and never procrastinating. When I am at school, I make it a point that everything is up to date,” he said.

He reckons that he cannot go for auditions or shooting if he is at school, but life is worth sacrifices. “That is why whenever I get the opportunity of being away from school, I try to network with other upcoming artists,” said Tshiuda.

Tshiuda is very optimistic and he attributes this character to the chosen career choice he is currently studying for at university.

“As they say, CAs have many traits to distinguish them. I believe we’re risk takers. So, I will strive and ensure that I get my title as Phathutshedzo Tshiuda CA (SA) while I am also pursuing my passion of being in the entertainment industry,” he said.

His goal is to have his own accounting and auditing firm soon. He is adamant that this will give him an opportunity to ensure that those who are passionate about accounting are given a chance to do so.

Tshiuda believes that he has learnt a lot and met many people with the desire and hunger to succeed. “I'd like to be recognized as I really do love this and hope to get a role in one of the soapies soon,” he says.
