In a country where job opportunities are scarce, finding an alternative to create a living is important. This is what Mutendi Murulane did by starting his photography company, Mutendi Creative Studio.
The 25-year-old from Ha-Madodonga in the Kutama area said that he never studied photography. "I never went to any photography classes or even read the basics. I always watched tutorials on YouTube. I became interested in photography when I was 16 years old and got my first camera from my late dad. What started as a hobby has now turned into full-time work," he added.
Although he has always had a passion for photography, the high unemployment rate forced him to turn his passion into a living. "I specialize in weddings and portrait. I love doing corporate shoots. I have worked with Sanlam and Cashbuild. I love the fact that I can capture the beauty of almost anything and shoot pictures that might never be captured again. I chose photography because it is the only way I can express myself," he said.
He passed matric in 2013 at Wilmary Christian Learning Centre and studied Business Administration at PC Training and Business College and Financial Management at Central Johannesburg College.
