“Christianity started in Israel as a family, went to Rome as a religion and now it is in Africa as a business.”

A 26-year-old author, Tshilidzi Mudzuli, writes this in his debut book, entitled Born an Original and Die as a Copy, which was published last year. His focus is on the present day’s scandalous churches and pastors who have moved from preaching God's word and started seeking popularity.

“The church leaders and believers have lost contact with God and are now focusing on enriching themselves through generating monies,” Mudzuli said. “Their eyes are no longer fixated on Jesus, but on fortunes which they hope to swindle out of the church members and those who come to their services. This is very different from Jesus Christ's idea and purpose of salvation and saving people's lives.”

The book is 126 pages in length and also has provocative chapters such as Are you a player or just a fan?; The God I have Seen; Embrace your Individuality in God; and The fear of the unknown.

“Although I do not mention people’s names and churches in my book, I leave no stone unturned,” he said. “False prophets and pastors are shown their doors from the Kingdom of God. It is high time believers get to be open-minded and help our nation to be a better place for all. People should embrace logic, not slogans.”

“I am a highly motivated young man who is a motivational speaker,” he said. “I am currently working with my former high school, George Mbulaheni Secondary School, where I motivate the learners and inspire them to aspire to be great people in life.”

A resident of Luvhalani village in the Nzhelele area, Mudzuli holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Venda. He believes that his is the kind of writing that heals the soul. “Using Christian principles, my book turns theory into practice, enabling one to turn their pain into purpose,” he said.

He is available on Facebook and can be reached on 071 563 2417.
