Just after the release of Lufuno Phalanndwa's single Shela Muya in October last year, his supporters called for the release of the full album.
With the public demand growing by the day, Lufuno succumbed to the pressure and released the much-anticipated Midnight Hour Worship album in December last year.
Recorded live at the Ha-Mutsha Community Hall in June 2018, the sizzling album has set the scene and has become the talk of the town, with hit tracks such as Tshedza Tshanga, Vhuthu hau Yehova and Shela Muya getting the fans divided as to which one is the best. With 20 tracks packed on a double-disc album, gospel lovers are spoilt for choice.
Talking about the release of his debut album, the 25-year-old Phalanndwa revealed that the initial plan was to release a CD and DVD combo this month, but the demand from the public forced his music stable, Mukurob Music, to change the plan.
“We thought releasing a single would get the people settled, knowing that the album was almost finished, but our calculations were not spot on,” he said. “The song Shela Muya created so much demand and the fans became restless; we had no choice but to release the full-length album and the response from the fans has been terrific.”
On social media, fans are already labelling the album ‘an award-winning album’, saying the music on the album was worthy of many accolades. Two of Lufuno’s die-hard supporters, Cei Bologo and Fani Netshivhumbe, wrote on their Facebook accounts that Midnight Hour Worship was the best album.
Bologo wrote: “This album is the best album and I cannot wait to get announcement that the album has been nominated in music awards, so I can vote as to bring those awards home”. Netshivhumbe, on the other hand, posted that “2019 gospel newcomer of the year goes to Lufuno!”
The album features upcoming artists Grace Mulaudzi, formerly Nakana and Ngudo Praise, as well as seasoned worshiper Kgaogelo Kekana. “The album is available from good music stores,” Lufuno said.
