Local gospel singer Phuluso Thenga and comedian Mr Majo Almost Famous proved to music lovers that they are a force to be reckoned with.
They scooped up awards at the SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards held at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban on 25 November.
Thenga, with his song You are in this place, walked away with the Best Gospel Worship Song. He competed with Zonke Makhoba, Sicelo Moyo and Lebohang Kgapola. He thanked his fans for voting for him. "I feel overwhelmed with joy, excitement, and grateful to God.” It has been a good year for him as he also won the Best Newcomer award during this year's Tshivenda Music Awards.
Mr Majo Almost Famous managed to beat Angel Gabriel, Multi B and Tebogo Ntlahane to win the Best Gospel Comedian award. He said he was over the moon to have won the award. "This was my first nomination for the SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards, and it is amazing to win an award. I am happy that I also got a chance to perform a few of my comedy lines to more than 5 000 people during the event. This experience was overwhelming. Thank you, my supporters, for your support. Your support is noticed and much appreciated," he added.
