Batondy is a hip hop singer to reckon with

One of the best local VenRap artists, Batondy, recently released his full-length debut album, VenRap Solution.

This mega album comprises 17 tracks and its release coincided with his birthday on 7 November. He considered the album a gift to his fans and followers, and those who love good music.

“I have previously released many singles and assisted many artists, but then my time was bound to come,” he said. “I released a single under the title Chittagong some time ago, and it has since created a huge fanbase, with all lovers of my music sending me messages where they demand that I release a full-length album.”

VenRap Solution was initially dropped as a single some time last year, with a few tracks that earned him three nominations in the Tshivenda Music Awards 2018. He was nominated in the Best hip hop artist of the year, Best male artist and, most importantly, Artist of the year. “Venrap Solution tackles my life experiences and the social ills that people face every day,” he said.

“People need to get to understand that they are not the only ones who are facing certain problems and challenges, and that can also happen when we share tour experiences through music,” he said. “They can also learn to resolve their difficulties through my music. That is the reason why the album was named VenRap Solution.”

The song Can't have it all is an inspirational anthem. It tells people that they cannot have everything in life, so they need to be grateful for the little they have. “Khonani talks about all types of friends one can have in life,” he said. “Some friends come to you for their own benefit, and if you don't have anything they back off and some do not want to see you getting better in life.”

The making of VenRap Solution took over a year since he had to defeat and deal with some challenges and difficulties along the way. “I worked with different artists like Fizzy, Monster, Dj Lagugga, Meskay, and producers like YB, DJ Phipho, Petmash and many more,” he said. “We had to strive to produce this quality music for the people.”

He maintained that the album was already doing well in the industry in terms of sales. “I keep receiving positive feedback from my fans who enjoy listening to my music,” he said. “My social media platform is also alive because people tag me in their videos, playing my songs.”
