Tshifhiwa's dream becomes a reality

Read: 10035

Tshifhiwa Sibadela from Mudunungu village in Nzhelele is a 24-year-old BA Media Studies graduate from the University of Venda.

She had a dream of becoming a radio presenter ever since she was young, so her love of radio drove her to follow the course in media studies. After graduation, however, she could not find employment, even though she had applied for several vacant posts.

She then heard that a new community radio station, Nzhelele FM, had been granted a license to broadcast by Icasa. "It was like a dream come true," she said.

After many months of struggling to find her dream job, she will host a love show, The love nest, from 01:00 to 03:00 on Nzhelele FM that is set to start broadcasting on Monday, 12 March.

She went on to thank her mother for being her pillar of strength. "My mother, Salphine Mabade, has always been there for me and always encouraged me not to give up on my dreams." Tshifhiwa said radio to her was like a friend that she never saw but was always there to entertain, inform and educate.
