The local queen of Afro-wedding songs, Makhadzi, recently released her latest album, Shumela Venda.
Shumela Venda is a popular slogan that only means people must uplift Venda with their good works. If you are a musician, carpenter, builder, doctor or lawyer, do it all for the betterment and upliftment of Venda.
Makhadzi's album boasts 13 tracks and three bonus songs. There are standout songs which include Ri vhuya lotsha, U voter, Dj wa vho rine, Shumela Venda, Corolla and Khokhonono I ya vhulaha.
“Like with all my previous albums, my team and I had given it our all to ensure quality sound and lyrics,” she said. “We want people to enjoy this album during the festive season and beyond!”
However, there is one song, Tshanda vhuya, which suggests that there are people – be it music promoters or producers – who want Makhadzi to join them in their companies. However, the young singer – through the idiom of the adults – asks to know why they were not around all night when she was alone. She sings that the sun has risen, so she needs no 'man' to come to her with sweet stories.
Makhadzi's manager and promoter, Rita Dee of Rita Dee Entertainment, said: “We worked with this young and talented woman and witnessed her talent growing to the state where we receieved countless bookings for live shows. In all the shows, she would prove to both fans and the host that they didn't invite the wrong person for the entertainment. We ask people to continue to buy original music and do away with feeding lazy individuals who pirate our hard-earned work.”

Tshifhiwa Given Mukwevho was born in 1984 in Madombidzha village, not far from Louis Trichardt in the Limpopo Province. After submitting articles for roughly a year for Limpopo Mirror's youth supplement, Makoya, he started writing for the main newspaper. Khathutshelo Dzaga from Thohoyandou Block G, known as Khathu within music circles, has captivated her fans with her latest song, “Muvhonetsheli”.
