After a break of eight solid years, a local reggae music group, The Receptors, have made a comeback with their second album. The new release, Rock Steady, was recorded at the MB Records Company in Thohoyandou five months ago.

According to the group’s leader, Mr Joseph Mulaudzi, their debut album, Natty Dread, was released way back in 2008. Some of the hit songs on that album were The system, War and the title track, natty dread.  Muladzi said that the album was still performing well in the market, despite the fact that it was eight years old.

The new album consists of 10 songs and, according to Mulaudzi, the demand for the album is by far higher than they could supply. He mentioned that songs like Turning around, Judgement day, Mama Africa and Money girl were driving the fans crazy.

According to him, the album is available in most of the local music outlets. When asked about the high rate of music piracy, Mulaudzi stated that piracy is a “devil that is fast killing our business”. He severely criticized the government for not doing anything about people whose business is music piracy.

He stated, however, that all his group members had vowed not to look back no matter what comes their way. For live performances, Mulaudzi can be phoned on 072 214 5626.
