The struggling Madodonga United surprised Benny’s Care when they beat them 2-1 in their Safa Vhembe MMK Insurance Brokers match at the Tshiozwi grounds on Sunday.
Benny’s approached the match like house on fire, with their midfielders distributing excellent passes to the strikers. They threatened to score five minutes into the match when Lesedi Katinga forced his way through the defence of United and passed the ball to Marubini Manyane. His attempt missed the target by inches.
That did not demoralise his team mates as they continued to play like a united team. In the 30th minute, Lesedi Katinga of Benny’s made his presence felt. He unleashed a powerful shot from outside the box and the keeper of United, Vhutshilo Manthada, watched in disbelief when he saw the ball cross the goal line to make the score 1-0.
The second half saw United pressed hard to find the equaliser. Benny’s lost shape in the midfielders and United scored their first goal in the 56th minute. Raymond Chuene dribbled past three defenders in a row and blasted in a rocket from inside the box. Benny’s keeper, Hlulanani Ghunyula, was red-carded when he handled the ball outside the penalty area. Zwashu Malaka of Benny’s missed the ball and Aaron Tozivepi of United received the ball freely and beat the keeper easily to make the score 2-1.
