Woman arrested for allegedly raping young man

A shocking incident happened in Tshakhuma last Monday, when a 56-year-old woman allegedly raped a 20-year-old mentally ill man.

The man was responding to a call of nature at his home when the woman, who happened to be his neighbour, allegedly called him. She allegedly locked him inside his house after asking the young man if he knew anything about having sexual intercourse. The young man apparently said he did not know anything about sex.

The woman then allegedly started touching the man's his private parts, before forcing herself on him.

The spokesperson for the Levubu police, W/O Solly Mukhola, said that the incident happened at 08:00. He added: "The brother of the victim reported the matter to the police and we opened a case of rape."

Mukhola said that the police managed to arrest the woman, who had run away, shortly after the incident. The woman appeared in the Vuwani Magistrate's Court last Wednesday and the case was postponed.

According to Mukhola, the woman is in custody.
