Victory for Ravele Highlanders

Ravele Highlanders emerged as the champions of the Keyona tournament after beating Ravele Black Dragons in the final on Sunday.

The score was 0-0 at full time and Highlanders won the penalty shoot-out 5-4.

Dragons showed no respect for their elder brothers and matched them pound for pound in all departments. Sedzani Buasi of Dragons could not display his normal impressive skills as Talifhani Mbelengwa had marked him tightly. Dragons were lucky not to concede half a dozen goals during the first half, as they were out of touch in all departments.

Highlanders missed two clear chances in the first 10 minutes. Firstly, Rendani Rathumbu shot wide from close range, after receiving a neat pass from Piet Mphukubye. As if that was not enough to stir up the fans, Rathumbu caused another upset three minutes thereafter. Rathumbu released aimlessly from outside the box, much to the disappointment of the team’s supporters.

Both sides effected some changes to their starting teams late in the second half, but it did not change the complexion of the match. Two players who went into the referee's book for rough play are Mukhethwa Mufamadi of Highlanders and Takalani Mabatha of Dragons.
