Back with Black Leopards? Former captain Mongezi Bobe.

Leopards to host Golden Arrows in first NFD match

Black Leopards will play their opening National First Division (NFD) League match of the new season at home. They will host Lamontville Golden Arrows at the Thohoyandou Stadium.

The NFD fixtures draw for the coming season was conducted at the Premier Soccer League's offices last week. The opening matches will be played over the weekend of 23 and 24 August.

Arrows were campaigning in the Absa Premiership division last season, while Lidoda  Duvha missed promotion by a whisker. The other Limpopo side, Baroka FC, will commence the new season by undertaking a journey to Durban for their match against Royal Eagles, or Sivutsa Stars as they were formerly known, at the King Zwelithini Stadium.

Maluti FET College will host Vasco da Gama, while Thanda Royal Zulu will meet at the Umhlathuze Sports Complex in Richards Bay. Garankuwa United will play against one of the teams that will be promoted from the Safa Second Division.

The second team that will be promoted from the Second Division will play their opening match at home. They will host Jomo Cosmos.

Milano United, who also suffered the pain of missing promotion by an inch last season, will entertain African Warriors at the NNK Rugby Stadium in Cape Town. FC Cape Town will lock horns with Santos at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town.

In the meantime, Black Leopards resumed their training sessions on Monday last week. Some of the players who are currently on trial with Leopards include the former Rospa United striker, Mashudu “Tlolo” Mashapha.Although none of the club officials could confirm it, Limpopo Mirror was reliably informed that the Leopards’ former captain, Mongezi Bobe, is training with the team.
