Infant found in bushes near Tshikota

 

The Makhado police have opened a case of child abandonment after a three-day-old infant was discovered in the open bushes near Tshikota on 26 February.

According to the information available at this stage, a member of public noticed a baby girl abandoned in the bushes next to the Vivo road at the second Tshikota turn-off at around 17:45.

The police were alerted about the incident. A case of child abandonment was opened at the Makhado Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) after the discovery of the infant.

"We are appealing to the members of the community to provide us with information that might help to reveal the identity of the mother," said the spokesperson for the Makhado police, W/O Takalani Madzhigili. The child is in good health.
