New ABC Motsepe team for Musina

Soccer lovers around Musina and surrounding areas will soon be able to watch ABC Motsepe League matches on their doorstep.

This follows the decision by two businessmen of Musina to buy the ABC Motsepe status of Mighty FC. The team has been based in Polokwane since its inception in the early nineties and was owned by the well-known soccer guru, Mr Mighty Tlale.

According to the one of the directors, former Ria Stars and Black Leopards striker Mr John Ndou, the reason behind buying the team is to develop young players. He said the Musina area had a lot of talent. The former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates striker, the late Lesley Manyathela, hailed from the Musina area. Ndou said he wanted to produce more players who could play for any elite league team.

He stated that he had confidence in the people of Musina to take his team to the highest level of football in the country within a reasonable period. The team will use the Lesley Manyathela Stadium as their home ground.

The former coach of National First Division team Magezi FC, Mr Jacky Ledwaba, has been appointed head coach of the team. Vhembe will have four teams playing under the auspices of ABC Motsepe Limpopo, namely Joe Maweja, Tshakhuma Madzivhandila, Madritas and Musina Mighty.
