Begwa and Lukau in Khubvi semi-final

The semifinals and final of  the Khubvi Soccer Tournament will be played at the Khubvi Benjies grounds tomorrow and on Sunday.

In the first semifinal, Lukau FC will entertain Begwa FC in what promises to be a thriller. Lukau beat The Dolphins FC 2-0 at the same venue last weekend to book a place in the semifinal stage.

Begwa lost 1-4 to Makonde FC on Sunday. Although Makonde won the match, they could not proceed to the next round of the tournament. This after Begwa had lodged a protest that Makonde had fielded an improperly registered player. During the tournament’s disciplinary committee meeting held later that afternoon, Makonde were found guilty of fielding a defaulter. The committee declared Begwa the winners.

In the second semifinal, Ficus will lock horns with Phandulaluvalo FC. Phandulaluvalo’s way to the semis went via Musasenda Big V, whom they beat 4-2 in a match whose winner was determined through a penalty shoot-out.

The players to watch in the semifinal matches are Samuel Ravhutsi and Ndivhuwo Mulovhedzi, both of Ficus, and Tshilidzi Murada and Aluwani Murada, both of Lukau.

The teams booted out tomorrow will battle it out in their losers' final match on Sunday morning at 09:00.  Khubvi Masters and Makonde Masters will meet soon afterwards.  The final is scheduled to kick off at 15:00.

The champions of the tournament will receive R5 000, while R2 500 is awaiting the team that will finish in second position. The team that obtains third position will go home with R1 000, while the fourth-placed side will take home R500.
