United Artists and Madridtas in play-offs

United Artists have done it again. The Lufule boys are through to the final of the Safa Vhembe promotional play-off matches.

United Artists beat Rambuda Young Fighters 4-1 at the Makwarela Stadium on Saturday morning. They drew 1-1 with Oscar Stars on Sunday morning, before registering a narrow 1-0 victory over Musina United at the Makhuvha Stadium later in the afternoon.

United Artists finished their weekend programme on top of Stream B and they will meet their Stream A counterparts, Madridtas FC, in the final at the Thohoyandou Stadium tomorrow (Saturday).

Matsika Shooting Stars lost 0-6 to Madridtas in their opening match on Saturday. Stars rectified their mistakes and registered a 2-0 victory over Tshivhilidulu Hungry Lions in their second match. Stars then drew 3-3 with Wayeni Sea Robbers at the Makhuvha Stadium on Sunday morning. Their final match was against Tshakhuma Na Ndilani, to whom they lost 0-2 at the Tshifulanani Stadium.

Tshivhilidulu Hungry Lions were the milk cow of the tournament. They did not win even a single match and lost 0-2 to Matsika Shooting Stars, drew 1-1 with Wayeni Sea Robbers, lost 1-4 to Tshakhuma Na Ndilani and finally suffered a 0-2 defeat at the hands of Madridtas.

Makhitha Oscar Stars played to a 2-2 draw with Musina United. They then shared the spoils 1-1 with United Artists and were crushed 3-0 by Rambuda Young Fighters in their final match.

The results of the other matches are: Rambuda Young Fighters 3, Musina United 1; Musina United 0, United Artists 1; Tshakhuma Na Ndilani 1, Wayeni Sea Robbers 1 and Madridtas 1, Tshakhuma Na Ndilani 1.

Artists were crowned the Safa Vhembe champions last year but they failed to make the grade in the provincial play-offs. Madridtas will pin their hopes on their top goal scorer, Eethe Khaukanani and Maanda Munyai for goals while Ernot Dzaga and the team’s captain, Solomon Noko, will ensure that their danger area is always clean.

The winner of Saturday's match represent the Vhembe Region in the provincial promotional play-off tournament that will be staged at the Seshego Stadium next weekend. The top two teams in the provincial playoffs will be promoted to the ABC Motsepe League.

Tshakhuma Na Ndilani and Rambuda Young Fighters will meet in their losers’ final match which is scheduled to start at 12:30 while the kickoff time for the final is 14:30.
