Leopards and Maritzburg in NFD clash

Unlike previous years, where Black Leopards were matched with a National First Division side in the last-32 stage of the Nedbank Cup competition, the situation is different this year. Lidoda Duvha will play against the Absa Premier League side, Maritzburg United.

The draw for the last 32 matches was held at the Premier Soccer League's offices in Parktown last Thursday evening.

Although the league is still to confirm the venue for the match, it will be an away fixture for Leopards. The coach of Leopards, Mr Kostadin Papic, said that his charges were ready to face any opposition anywhere. He further said that some of his injured players were likely to be back when they play Maritzburg in the first week of next month.

He was referring to Jonathan King, Thivhavhudzi Ndou, Marks Munyai and Bongani Manana. Manana was taken off the pitch on a stretcher in their game against Royal Eagles at the Thohoyandou Stadium three weeks ago.

Either Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates will not proceed to the next stage of the competition. Amakhosi and The Buccaneers will play against each other in the last-32 stage of the prestigious competition. The Soweto giants played to a 1-1 draw at the FNB Stadium in their league encounter last Saturday.

The only Absa Premiership side in Limpopo, Polokwane City, will host African Warriors.

The rest of the fixtures are: EC Bees vs Magezi FC, Bidvest Wits vs Bloemfontein Celtic, Moroka Swallows vs Supersport United, Ajax Cape Town vs Free State Stars, Santos vs Mthatha Bucks, United Rovers vs Mpumalanga Black Aces, University of Pretoria vs Polokwane City Rovers, Chippa United vs Baroka, Golden Arrows vs Milford FC, Highlandspark vs Mamelodi Sundowns, Sibanye Golden Stars vs Mbombela United, Jomo Cosmos vs Amazulu, Steenberg United vs Platinum Stars and Orlando Pirates vs Kaizer Chiefs.
