Leopards and Baroka in Limpopo derby

There is huge interest in the National First Division League match between the two Limpopo sides, Black Leopards and Baroka FC, at the Thohoyandou Stadium tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon.

Baroka, currently the log leaders, have never tasted victory against Black Leopards. Their best result against Lidoda Duvha was a draw. Leopards must win the match to keep their hopes of getting automatic promotion to the elite league alive. On the other hand, Baroka must also win the match in order to maintain their leadership on the log.

Leopards are currently lying in the ninth spot on the log.

The home team will be without their dribbling wizard, Leonard Ntshangase, tomorrow. The diminutive striker left the pitch on a stretcher in the game against Mbombela United at the Kanyamazane Stadium in Nelspruit last Sunday. Ntshangase’s injury brings the number of Leopards players who are nursing injuries to four. The other star players are all defenders, Thivhavhudzi Ndou, Marks Munyai and Jonathan King.

Ruggert Nyundu and Thembisani Nevhulamba will carry the hopes of the team when it comes to goals, while Dunga Munganga and Lebohang Mabotja must be solid in defence. Leopards must keep a close eye on the Baroka goal poachers, Thabiso Kutumela and Jacky Mothekgwa.

In other NFD matches, Cape Town All Stars will take on Santos in their Cape Town derby at the Athlone Stadium. Another Cape Town derby will be between FC Cape Town and Vasco da Gama at the NNK Rugby Stadium.

The other matches are African Warriors vs Witbank Spurs, Mthatha Bucks vs Amazulu, Highlandspark vs Mbombela United and Royal Eagles vs Moroka Swallows.
