Begwa FC and Powerline in final of Boy Nemakonde Challenge

 

Local soccer lovers will be streaming to the Tshifudi Stadium tomorrow afternoon for the much-awaited final of the Boy Nemakonde Soccer Challenge.

Begwa FC and Tshaulu Powerlines will meet in the final.

Powerlines’ way to the final went via Mubvumoni XI Arrows, whom they beat 4-1 in the quarterfinal stage last Saturday. They used Munangwe United Brothers as their stepping stone to secure a place in the final. They beat Brothers 3-0 the following day. Begwa crushed Dimani Young Masters 8-0 in the quarterfinal before beating Lukalo Hotspurs 5-4 in the semil.

Powerlines’ defenders, Ntsiruweni Mbedzi and Pfano Nemakonde, will have a mammoth task to stop the Begwa strikers, Thuso Nevhufumba and Naledzani Nemutanzhela. The match will start at 15:00.

Teams that were booted out of the competition in the semifinal stage, Lukalo Hotspurs and Munangwe United Brothers, will battle it out for the third and fourth positions in their losers' final match at 11:00.

According to the tournament director, Mr Eric Murudi, this year’s champions will take home a cash prize of R10 000, soccer kit, two soccer balls and a floating trophy. The runners-up will be presented with R1 000, soccer kit and two soccer balls. A cash prize of R500, soccer kit and two soccer balls awaits the team that will finish the tournament in the third spot.

All teams that took part in the tournament will receive two soccer balls. The individual awards will be presented to the best player of the tournament, the top goal scorer and the best coach. They will each be presented with a sport shop voucher to the value of R 1000 and trophies.

Murudi also mentioned that all teams, together with the fans, will be provided with free transport to and from the stadium as part of the sponsorship for the tournament. Tshaulu Powerlines are the defending champions.
