Tshaulu too powerful for Mubvumoni Arrows

Tshaulu Powerlines beat Mubvumoni XI Arrows 4-1 at the Tshifudi Stadium on Saturday to secure a place in the semifinal stage of the Boy Nemakonde Soccer Challenge.

Both sides displayed entertaining football, but Arrows’ strikers were unlucky. Arrows’ fast forward, Vhulenda Tendani, committed an unforgettable blunder in the 10th minute. He received a beautiful pass from Riane Munzhelele and hesitated for far too long to unleash, until he lost possession.

That was a wake-up call to the players of Powerlines. They initiated several moves from behind and opened their account in the 14th minute. Khuliso Libago scored with a header after a corner kick that was taken by Alson Baloyi.

Arrows continued to play attacking football, with Arrows playing with their backs against the wall. Powerlines increased the margin in the 24th minute. Hlengani Simango beat the keeper with a loose ball, following a scramble within the box.

Arrows realized that it was not their day when they missed a fortune in the 28th minute. Rinae Munzhelele went loose from the right corner and shot wide from the edge of the box with the keeper already beaten. Powerlines put matters beyond doubt in the 39th minute. Alson Baloyi forced his way through the defence of Arrows and sent the keeper the wrong way to bring the half-time score to 3-0.

Powerlines introduced Thanyani Mudzanani for Phathutshedzo Makhado early in the last half. Murendeni Thanyani of XI Arrows was reprimanded with a card for a dangerous tackle on Khuliso Libago in the 59th minute. Vhutenda Tendani scored the Arrows’ solitary goal with a volley in the 67th minute. Powerlines scored their fourth late in the game.
