Benny's Care's players celebrate their victory with the coach, Mr Mbishi Mokoena, and Ms Florance Phekgadi from Danone (sponsor).

Provincial honours for juniors of Benny’s Care

Benny’s Care were crowned as the provincial U/12 Danone Cup champions, after beating the  much-feared Mahupje Primary 1-0 in the final match played at the field of Noorderland in Polokwane on Saturday.

Mahupje, a school from the Capricorn district, were only good at the far back and their midfielders hesitated for too long and did not release the ball on time to the goal poachers.

They put their defenders under tremendous pressure. Benny’s initiated several promising moves from the centre of the pitch, but were denied a number of scoring opportunities by the defence of Mahupje.

Benny’s threatened to score in the early minutes of the match when Tlolane Muleya forced his way through before passing the ball to Andries Magwete. His attempt narrowly missed the target. Tshimangadzo Mukwevho scored Benny’s goal in the 30th minute.

He unleashed a powerful shot from outside the box and beat the opponent's keeper easily.
Both sides effected some changes to their starting teams late in the second half. The changes, however, did not chage the complexion of the match.

Four players,  Dakalo Mukwevho and Hulisani Mashau of Benny’s and Marupeng Sehlaku and Mahlodi Mahupje of Mahupje were cautioned with yellow cards for different infringements.

Tshimangadzo Mukwevho of Benny's is in control of the ball, while Mahupje Molepo is attacking from behind.

Andries Magwete of Benny's protects the ball from Kamokgelo Mahlangu.
