Maximum league points for Maweja

In their MMK Administrators League match at the Tshakhuma Mulangaphuma grounds on Sunday, Maweja Takers collected maximum points at the expense of Rockers FC, whom they beat 2-0.

The game was a balanced affair until Rockers were reduced to 10 men early in the last half. Mukondeleli Tshivhula, the Rockers’ Rastafarian holding midfielder, was the first player to go into the referee’s book. His offence was protesting against the referee’s decision in the 14th minute. This after the referee had awarded a free kick to Maweja Takers just outside the box.

Maweja Takers were the first to effect change to their starting lineup. They replaced Kevin Munyai with Takalani Ramagalela 20 minutes into the game. Shonisani Rambebu of Takers was brought down within the box in the 29th minute. That prompted the referee to award a penalty to the home side. Khuliso Netshaulu, the team’s captain, converted from the white spot.

An official of Rockers, Mr Philemon Siliga, was given his marching orders, following a continued argument with the referee. Things turned against the visitors from Makwarela six minutes into the last half. Their number-one goalkeeper, Tshimangadzo Matamba, was given his marching orders for using abusive language towards the referee. Avhakholwi Khampha took over the responsibility of guarding the goal posts.

Morgan Makhuvha of Maweja was reprimanded with a card for wasting time in the 67th minute. Maweja Takers nearly increased the margin in the 74th minute. Ipfi Muthubi, who came on as a substitute for Joseph Ndou, missed a fortune when he shot straight to the keeper from close range.

A defender of Rockers handled the ball within the box two minutes later, and it was another penalty for Maweja. Khuliso Netshaulu scored again to bring the full-time score to 2-0.
