Rammbona steers Western Stars to 1-0 victory

Silas "Parker" Rammbona has steered Madombidzha Western Stars to a 1-0 victory over Madombidzha Arsenal in an MMK Administrators match at Madombidzha on Saturday.

Arsenal took the game to Stars in the first 20 minutes. Their speedy forward, Ritshidze Mutangwa, let them down by shooting aimlessly at the goal finish. Stars rectified their mistakes soon afterwards. Their diminutive kingpin, Maanda Magoro, beat the offside trap but lost possession with only keeper Hector Malange at his mercy.

Phumudzo Mafukata, the Stars' left flank, had his chance in the 25th minute after receiving a brilliant pass from Eric Sefularo. He shot aimlessly from close range and the ball went wide. The referee flashed the first yellow card in the 40th minute. Oscar Leaka obstructed Dakalo Nwanamidwa and the referee was lenient enough to let him go with yellow, as the nature of the offence carries the weight of a red card.

The scoreboard was still blank when the teams adjourned for half time. Early in the second half, Stars introduced ThaboMatuba and Percy Munonoka respectively. The only goal of the match came in the 70th minute. Silas Rammbona beat the keeper after dribbling past two defenders in a row.

Arsenal initially showed a spirit of commitment, but their original stamina vanished and their back line started to leak. Asernal had a taste of bad luck in the 86th minute when Londy Musiamo shot into the hands of the keeper from a penalty spot in the dying minutes.
