Phandulaluvalo the Nev Production champions

Phandulaluvalo FC were crowned the champions of the Nev Production Soccer Challenge at the Tshifudi grounds on Sunday.

Phandulaluvalo beat Mahagala Young Stars 2-1 in the final of the competition. Phandulaluvalo were presented with R4 000 during the ceremony, held at the grounds shortly after the final.

The runners-up, Mahagala Young Stars, took home R2 500. Mutale Vikings, who obtained the third position, were presented with R1 500. Mutale Vikings beat The Dolphins 2-1 in their losers’ final match, which was played at the same venue before the final.

The fourth-placed Dolphins FC received R1 000 during the ceremony. The teams which were booted out of the competition in the quarterfinal stage were each given a consolation prize of R250.

Eight teams took part in the tournament. The full results of the whole tournament are: The Dolphins 2, Khubvi Darkies 1; Phandulaluvalo 3, Thenzheni Liverpool 0; Mahagala Young Stars 6, Vhufuli Pull Together 2; Mutale Vikings 1, Musasenda Big V 0; Mahagala Young Stars 3, The Dolphins 2; Phandulaluvalo FC 5, Mutale Vikings 0; Mutale Vikings 2, The Dolphins 1 and Phandulaluvalo 2, Mahagala Young Stars 1.

A well-known local writer, Mr Maitele Nevhutalu, sponsored the competition. In an interview, Nevhutalu indicated that he will continue to sponsor the tournament in future. He is the chairman of the winning side, Phandulaluvalo FC.
