Murder suspect in court

The Mutale Police have arrested Richard Mlambo, a 40-year old Zimbabwean national, in connection with the death of Ms Lufuno Mandebvu (29). Her burnt  body was found at the Tshilavulu mountain last Thurday evening.    

Ms Mandebvu was reported missing on 28 December last year and invesigations led to the arrest of the suspect. According to the police, the man led them to the nearby mountain at Tshilavulu outside Thohoyandou, where he pointed out the burnt-out remains of the woman.

Hundreds of angry residents from around Mutale braved the morning rain and gathered at the gates of the Mutale Magistrate’s Court this morning (Monday). They are protesting against the possible granting of bail to the suspect.

Mlambo is due to appear in the Thohoyandou Magistrate's Court on 2 March. No bail was granted.
