“Be proud of our tourism attractions”

The chairperson of the Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA), Mr Andrew Dipela, has urged communities in the province to be proud of the “avalanche of tourist attractions the province has to offer”.

Dipela was joined by the new mayor of the Thulamela local municipality, Cllr  Avhashoni Tshifhango, a representative of the Department of Tourism, Mr Peter Myron, and several councillors of Vhembe District Municipality during the official provincial tourism month launch at the Porche-Villa Hotel and Conference Centre in Muledane on Tuesday.

“Tourists coming to the province will be spoiled for choice with sites from the Big Tree situated in Tshipise-Zwigodini to the Mapungubwe World Heritage Site. Our province has, over the past two years, proven to be the leader as far as local travel is concerned and making the province the domestic tourism destination of choice,” said Dipela.

He added that South Africa was a land of diverse cultures and landscapes and renowned for being a tourist destination of reputable note. He also announced that the 2016 tourism month theme, as driven by South African Tourism, is Tourism for all. “Today, as we launch the calendar of activities, we also kick off the Limpopo Tourism Authority social media campaign, where the main message shall be #GoLimpopo#Tourism for all.

During the launch, well-known tour guide in Thohoyandou Mr Mashudu Dima said that he was worried about communities who continued to destroy indigenous trees, which can used for medicine.
