“Our communities want peace”

 

A ministerial task team led by Cooperative Governance and Tradional Affairs Minister Des van Rooyen was warmly welcomed by residents of Ha-Davhana and nearby Shangaan villages when they recently visited the area.

According to a spokesperson for residents of the area, the task team spoke of service delivery and peace and stability in the area. "Residents from Mabidi, Davhana-Balanganani, Sundani, Bofulamato, Nngwekhulu, Tshirululuni, Ramaligela-Gabeni, Makhasa, Madobi and Kuruleni strongly support the formation of the new municipality," he spokesperson said.

According to him, the mentioned communities said that the Makhado municipality had failed to provide proper services to them. They also supported the idea of the task team to allow the learners affected by the violence and burning of schools to go back to school.

The residents also strongly warned people who intimidated pupils who want to continue with their studies to stop, or they will face the law, he added. According to him, the different communities strongly condemn tribalism.
