Joy as Siloam welcomes new minister

Earlier this month, there was jubilation, singing and ululating by the congregants of the Reformed Churches of South Africa when Rev NN Ligege of the Reformed Church De Hoop led the ordination of Rev Ndwamanto Justice Masakona as the new minister of the Reformed Church of Soutpansberg (Siloam).

Rev Ligege said to Masakona that the church rejoiced with him that, after years of preparation, he was ordained to the ministry of the Word and reminded him to exercise the authority of the office entrusted to him. "Look faithfully after the whole flock, young and old, faithful and the unfaithful, the strong and the weak. Rejoice with those who rejoice and suffer with those who suffer," said Ligege.

The ceremony was attended by other congregations from Classis Limpopo, local traditional leaders and relatives of Masakona. On behalf of the classis, Rev R Makungo reminded Masakona that he must not forget that he was a servant of both Christ and the church. He further said that, as a preacher, his proclamation must faithfully reflect the Word of God and relate it to the needs of the listeners. He concluded by wishing Masakona and his family wisdom and guidance from God Himself for His glory.

Ligege told the congregarion of Soutpansberg to keep their vows and to receive their minister as a gift of God. "Listen to him with all the respect due to his office," he added.
