Devine Flock Church opens heart for poor kids

Pupils from poor families around Maebane were presented with complete sets of uniforms from Pastor Rose Muneri of Divine Flock Church a fortnight ago.

Due to financial constraints, the young children are forced to go to school bare-footed and without any uniforms.

Muneri said that the church started the project three years ago with the aim of helping disadvantaged pupils whose parents could not provide uniforms. “Our area is one of the poorest areas in the province, and if we do not do something for our learners, some will end up dropping out of school,” she said.

A pupil who received a uniform, Vhahangwele Mphephu, said the gesture was motivating them to succeed in their studies. “It is hard to concentrate in class if you do not have the basic needs. What the church did for us has helped to restore our dignity and we will not disappoint the church, our parents and our teachers.”

Ms Sarah Thamaha, one of the parents, said as parents they were faced with a headache whenever schools reopened. She added that they always prayed for miracles to happen.”What you have done for our children is a big relief to us and our children. You eased a big burden for us, and may God richly bless you, so that you continue helping us and our children,” she said.
