MK veteran Oupa Mashaba passes away

 

The mayor of Musina, Cllr Mihloti Ramoyada, extended her deepest condolences to the family of the regional secretary of the Mkhonto We Sizwe Military Veterans Association, Mr Oupa Mashaba (46), who passed away on Saturday, 21 March, after falling ill.

Mashaba, who hailed from Musina Nancefield, was one of the respected freedom fighters in the area.

Ramoyada visited the grieving family on Tuesday to convey her condolences personally. “It is important to visit you as a family during this time of need. The pain that you are feeling needs to be soothed by prayers and words of courage. On behalf of the council and all the people of Musina, I send my heartfelt condolences to you, the family, friends and all the people who had the pleasure of knowing Comrade Mashaba. He was a distinguished son of the soil whose contribution to the attainment of freedom and democracy will always be remembered,” said Ramoyada.

She added that Mashaba’s legacy wouldcontinue to guide the young generation “to defend our democracy. 

He will always be remembered for his fearless revolutionary spirit.”

Mashaba will be buried tomorrow (Saturday). The service starts at his family home at 344 Sharmy Mwali Street, Musina Nancefield.
