Louis Trichardt / Makhado name saga continues

The Makhado Municipality has today broken their silence regarding Louis Trichardt’s name issue, and said they were determined to see it changed back to Makhado.

Mayor of Makhado Municipality, Cllr David Mutavhatsindi, announced the decision during a gathering of the municipal Executive Committee. The decision was welcomed by committee members with laud applause.

The municipality indicated that they were not happy with the Pretoria High Court's decision on 30 October to have the town’s name change set aside.

Except for the municipality's decision to the town's name changed back to Makhado, the mayor indicated that there is a budget to also change certain street names in town.

The full report will appear in next week’s issue.
