Nzhelele grandfather (88) goes missing

The family of Mr Johannes Matodzi Denga (88) are looking for their father, after he had disappeared from home at Tshitavha-Vhulaudzi in Nzhelele on 2 January.

Denga woke up in the morning and told his family that he was going to collect his grant at a bank in Makhado (Louis Trichardt). When he had not returned by the evening, his family thought that he might have decided to visit relatives in Madombidzha.

According to Denga's daughter, Ms Stella Denga, the family started to panic when the old man had not returned home by the following morning. “We phoned all our relatives in different parts of the area, but my father was nowhere to be found,” Stella said. “It is getting hard for us to live without him in the home. We love him very much.”

Stella says that Denga was last seen wearing a pair of brown trousers, a maroon long-sleeved shirt, a brown waistcoat, a beige jacket and brown shoes. He is light brown in complexion.

Denga's elderly wife, Mrs Alosia Denga (78), is heartbroken that her husband of many years has gone missing. “I cannot grasp the meaning of life when my husband is nowhere to be seen,” she sobs. “Please help us find Johannes.”

The spokesperson for the Siloam police, W/O Edzisani Tharaga, confirmed that a missing person's file had been opened. “We ask members of the community to assist us to find Mr Denga,” W/O Tharaga said. “His family is really agrieved and they need him.”

People who might see Denga are requested to inform the nearest police station.
