Ms Virginia Munyai, better known as Virgi-M, is back with a second album, Ni Tshi Funa Funani. The title can be loosely translated as Love if you love.

She launched her album at Phuthalushaka Primary School in July.

The Tshivenda Afro-Jazz musician from Mulenzhe village outside of Thohoyandou is fast becoming a household name in the Tshivenda music industry. She said that her new hits, Ni Tshi Funa Funani and Nthembeni, were making waves on PhalaPhala FM, Univen FM and Makhado FM.

Nthembeni features South African Traditional Award-winning artist Junior Sikheli of Nwali o sinyuwa fame.

Virgi-M is confident her latest offering will take her music to another level. She said she was excited when her song, Ndayo, was nominated for the Tshivenda Best Song of the Year during the Tshivenda Music Awards' 2013 edition. She admits Ndayo set a high standard that will be difficult to maintain.

“I am under tremendous pressure to keep up with the standard to make sure I don’t let my fans down,” she said. “With the release of Ni Tshi Funa Funani, I can see that my world is opening up in an amazing way.”

The humble singer, who started her music career as a backing vocalist for Berea Madzonga, said she loved working with other artists. “I collaborated with top artists such as Tshidino Ndou of Ni songo nyadza zwine vhanwe vha tenda khazwo fame, Humbulani Ramagwedzha, Junior Sikheli, T-Man Gavini, Venda Boy and Poet Ravhalusani Ratshitanga,” Virgi-M said.

Just like other musicians, Virgi-M said she is very worried about piracy. "Our musicians die poor because our music is being pirated every day and our government turns a blind eye."

Those who would like to contact her, can phone her manager at 072 136 6644.
