The much-publicised and aborted launch last year of the popular Tshivenda porn movie,Bush Pie 3, which received condemnation from many quarters, could have led to the downfall of its creator, Zwoluga Madega.

But the opposite holds true for Madega (35), who has taken that as motivation to work even harder. Madega, of Hanzams Films, has risen from the ashes and bounced back in a big way. He recently released a monster comedy, Zwitukana 3, which is about two boys who go all out and train as karatekas in order to protect their sister, who is a target of bullies in the village.

The 45-minute-long movie is the culmination of three months of intensive shooting at locations in Thohoyandou and Tswinga. The comedy stars actors such as seasoned actors Ntambudzeni Rasendedza, Livhuwani Mudau, Smanza Madega and Edzy Mudau.

“The aborted launch, which was done at the last minute, crippled me financially as I had done all the arrangements, but this has not dampened my spirit to produce quality movies. I have taken the challenge as motivation and I am looking at the world with a clear perspective and life goes on."

He added that the latest comedy "is an indication that I am not someone who gives up easily and am determined to toil to the end. It took me many months to prepare for this project in order to give the best to my fans,” he said.

Asked whether he still had plans to produce more porn movies, Madega was quick to say that there was a new project coming. "Bush Pie 3 was launched, but we did it privately as many were opposed to the idea of launching it in public. The aborted launch worked as a publicity stunt for us and we became very popular, with a large following,” he said.

Madega could not finish the interview without complaining about piracy, which he said was killing creativity in the creative arts. “We are suffering, as we spend thousands producing good movies and music, only to find it on street pavements, selling for as little as R10. We are helpless and the government is doing nothing to stop these criminals from stealing our work,” he said.
