A resident of Tshaphasha in the Mutale area, Takalani Londani, has released his second album, A tshivhuya murena.

Although he is suffering from a mental illness, he worked hard to complete his second album. His first album, Avhatakali, was released in 2009.

The new album consists of eight songs, with Atshivhuya Murena already a favourite with his fans.

He grew up listening to famous musicians such as Roxley Masevhe and Rapson Rambuwani, two local musicians who inspried his work. “I am a full-time musician, but I know that I will have something to depend on whenever I decide to take a break from my music. I therefore encourage young people who want to venture into the music industry to seek an education first. They will also have something to fall back on if their music careers are not doing well.”

The album is alaready in great demand and has also started receiving massive airplay on community, regional and national radio stations. “I am very happy and proud of the way in which my CD is being received by my fans out there. This is a true reflection that my music is mature and appeals to all age groups.”

He started his music career as a backing vocalist for several artists and groups around Vhembe.  Despite having plenty of songs available, he had to fund the project himself. In order to enhance his music skills, he took piano lessons.

He said that although the album was self-marketed, many copies had already been sold since its release and had been receiving a lot of airplay from different radio stations around the country.

According to music critics, he is gaining great popularity among gospel music lovers because of his unique style, which consists of heavy bass sounds. He sings about personal experiences, “and what I see happening in my vicinity”.
