A 29-year-old entrepreneur, Dakalo Stanley Mamathuntsha, hopes to inspire the region's young people with his new clothing brand, Chipiti (Speed).

Mamathuntsha is adamant that his clothing brand will inspire success in the region. Since its inception over the past few months, the name Chipiti has been circulating swiftly in local entertainment circles. Some of the local rappers have produced single tracks, praising this brand and signifying how they acknowledged local brands.

According to Mamathuntsha, the brand and its design represent young, vibrant individuals who love having fun, strive for success, embrace life and live it to the fullest.  He reckons that his brand demonstrates how young people are succeeding in life while simultaneously enjoying the fun life has to offer, achieving their dreams and ambitions.

“This brand also sets a reminder that, irrespective of how successful one has been, that does not mean they should forget where they come from, the people who raised them and the community they grew up in,” said Mamathuntsha.

This BCom accounting graduate from the former University of Durban-Westville, insists the brand shows how young people are excelling in the corporate industry. “Our motive is to unite the youth through social gatherings and encourage discussions that will lead someone somewhere in life, to ensure a better life and promote entrepreneurship,” he says.

The brand was initially launched with various caps and T-shirts specifically aimed at young people. “We need to show local young people that success and fun describe the good life. Though we are optimistic about life, we also need to be responsible young people. That is what our brand stands for,” he adds.
