Album bears testimony to her faith

Since her second album, Athiathumuvhona, was released, Marubini Rahulani has become a highly rated gospel artist in Limpopo.

She started her music career in 1992 as a member of the choir of the Apostolic Faith Mission church choir in Vuwani. She felt, however, that her talent was not being recognized. Her first album, Jordan, was released in 2005, with hit praise songs like Vhuhwavho haundivhuhulu and Jevo Jaira.

The favourites songs on her new album are Linamaanda, Riaurenda Murena and Vuwa uloshe.

"I have been wandering around and saw many things in life, but there was one thing that I was missing in life, and that was God. Now that I have found the Lord, everything has changed and my life has to bear testimony that I have changed. That is where this album came into being," Rahulani said.

She said people could have everything they could wish for in life but without God they would never enjoy life to the fullest. "We are all created in the image of God and we should pay back by praising Him, and in my case, it is through music. I am very grateful to my spiritual father, Thomas Liremi of Madombidzha Apostolic Faith Mission Church, and the whole congregation who saw potential in me and made this project a reality," she added.

Rahulani said that she was concerned to see that there were young people who were consuming liquor and some were using drugs. She said with God in a person’s life it was not necessary to use artificial sources like drugs to become happy. She also stated that, even though she had not gone far in terms of education, she had come to realize the importance of education and always encouraged the young ones to put education first.

She said the music industry was dying because of piracy. “There are no more music shops in town, because they canot compete with these ruthless thieves who sell our music at next to nothing. Many in this industry have lost their jobs and artists are now at the receiving end as their albums are found on pavements and sold for as little as R10, with the money going to the pirates,” she said.

Marubini Rahulani released her second album, Athiathumuvhona.
